Twinning Light project successfully completed – one step closer to European family of regulators

Twinning1

The Twinning Light project entitled “Strengthening the administrative capacities of the Institute for Medicines and Medical Devices of Montenegro regarding the requirements of the EU accession process”, funded by the European Union, was carried out in the period from 22 January to 22 September 2025.

The project was of particular importance for CInMED and the healthcare system of Montenegro in the context of European integration and the current process of closing Chapter 1. An array of workshops, study visits and expert missions was carried out in the course of the Project, through which the Institute’s employees improved their competencies in the areas of good manufacturing and good distribution practices (GMP and GDP), quality assessment, safety and efficacy of medicines and medical devices, vigilance, quality systems, human resources management, finance, communication and international cooperation. In all of the areas mentioned, the Institute’s employees had the opportunity to enhance their understanding of  the application of European standards and good practices.

During this project, a total of 49 Institute employees participated in intensive trainings. 15 study visits were held, both in Montenegro and Malta, while 34 experts from the Malta Medicines Agency were engaged in the project realisation, amounting to a total of 103 expert working days.

It is particularly important that this project further enhanced cooperation with colleagues from the Malta Medicines Agency, thereby creating and strengthening professional ties and friendships that will lay the groundwork for ongoing cooperation and knowledge exchange.

The completion of this project is a significant step forward – Institute’s step closer to European family of regulators. At the same time, it is a contribution to strengthening the healthcare system of Montenegro and providing quality, safe and effective medicines and medical devices to citizens.

The project has shown that fostering knowledge, cooperation and international partnership represents the best route towards building a stronger and more modern healthcare system.
